Welcome to the official website for The OSIP Foundation, Inc., where OSIP stands for Outstanding Sportsmanship Is Paramount.
“Were you the child who quit playing sports because the adults stopped making it fun for you? Were you the coach who stopped coaching because of the insanity of parents? Were you the parent whose heart broke for your kid because a sports dream was unfairly taken from them? Were you the fan who had something hurled in your direction by an opposing fan? Were you the umpire or referee whose life was threatened because a call you made went against someone’s kid? Were you the sportswriter who was lambasted on social media because of an article you published?
“There are people in this world who can’t afford their rent or groceries because they were assaulted over these things. Think about that for a moment: there are normal average humans who can’t work their day jobs because they were savagely beaten over a recreational game for kids. Further, there are families who will never see a loved one again because those loved ones were killed over a disagreement in that game.
“There are children who don’t get the chance to learn and experience the teachable moments and life lessons in sports and competition because of the inappropriate actions of adults. We’re not talking about everyone getting a participation trophy. We’re talking about understanding the value of teamwork, overcoming obstacles, basking in the thrill of victory, and coping with the agony of defeat. Without these valuable lessons and experiences, our future generations won’t know how to play fair, be ethical, or treat each other with respect.
“These lessons don’t just apply to the next generation of athletes. They apply to everyone: our businesspeople, our politicians, our scientists, our artists. Without these experiences, I imagine we may create people who care more about corner-cutting, mediocrity, and 'what’s-in-it-for-me' than enjoying the process and the journey of our work and labor.”

OSIP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that seeks to promote good sportsmanship in all forms of competition. We provide help to those who are inexplicably assaulted in sports. We also provide programs to assist in renewing the standard of sportsmanship, including honoring student athletes, hosting charitable trivia nights, and distributing signs reminding people to not lose their cool. We publish books, podcasts, and blog posts that help further our message. Although we are headquartered in New Jersey, our message and services are available worldwide!
